Blue Cross Lawsuit Could Lower Premiums for Tens of Millions

Is BCBS of NC playing fair?  Some folks in Mooresville don’t think so.  They have filed suit alleging Blue Cross plans nationwide have driven up health care costs by colluding to carve up the nation’s insurance market, in violation of antitrust laws.  The Feds have been looking into it, and now a flurry of class action law suits have sprung up.  At least one law professor at Duke thinks the plaintiffs have a good case.  BCBS is the major player in NC, by far, insuring over 3.7 million people.  If the plaintiffs are successful, it could be a game changer in the NC insurance market.  Any result are a year off, at least, but definitely something to watch.
