lindsey-surrattLindsey Surratt, JD, is a compliance officer for Hill, Chesson & Woody Employee Benefit Services.

In her role with HCW, Lindsey specializes in health law and compliance, including healthcare reform. She guides clients and staff in regulatory compliance for health and welfare benefit plans. Lindsey utilizes her knowledge of COBRA, HIPAA, ERISA and areas of the IRS tax code that impact employee benefits to help clients identify compliance concerns and make recommendations to help maintain their conformity under the law.

Prior to joining HCW, Lindsey practiced law in New Orleans, Louisiana where she analyzed healthcare contractual relationships, and provided advice on mergers and acquisitions of physician practices and Medicare fraud and abuse. Her work with employers on a broad scope of services related to the healthcare industry serves HCW clients well in their employee benefit compliance needs.

As a member of the American Bar Association Health Law Section, Lindsey serves on the eHealth, Privacy and Security, Employee Benefits and Executive Compensation, and Managed Care and Insurance committees.

Lindsey received her Juris Doctor (JD) Cum Laude from Loyola University New Orleans College of Law and is a member of the American Health Lawyers Association. She is licensed to practice law in Louisiana and Mississippi. She graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Arts in political science. A native of Randleman, N.C., Lindsey resides in Saxapahaw, N.C.

katharine-marshallKatharine Marshall, JD, is a compliance officer specializing in healthcare reform and compliance law at HCW Employee Benefit Services. She guides clients and staff in regulation compliance for health and welfare benefit plans, including all laws that impact employee benefits.

Katharine brings her experience in civil and criminal litigation to HCW’s compliance team, helping educate HCW clients and internal staff on health and welfare compliance and benefits. Katharine prides herself in staying abreast of the employee benefits compliance landscape in the wake of healthcare reform.

Prior to joining HCW, Katharine worked for a number of years in a premier multi-national law firm before moving to a litigation boutique in New York.  As a litigator she worked on several financial regulatory actions, state and federal white-collar crime investigations, and multimillion dollar commercial litigations involving contracts and trusts. She defended individual and corporate clients before the SEC, the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, states Attorney Generals’ offices and the Department of Justice.

Katharine received her Juris Doctor (JD) Cum Laude from New York University School of Law in 2002. She is a member of the North Carolina Bar, the New York Bar, the American Health Lawyers Association and the N.C. Association of Women Attorneys.

Katharine received her B.S. in international agriculture from Cornell University in 1994.
